Ellen Jorgensen: What you need to know about CRISPR

Should we bring back the wooly mammoth? Or edit a human embryo? Or wipe out an entire species that we consider harmful? The genome-editing technology CRISPR has made extraordinary questions like these legitimate -- but how does it work?

This is required reading for everyone on my team.

The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency.

The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.

I consider myself an environmentalist. Coming from the Northwest, I’m fond of fresh air, clean water, and bio-diversity. But when it comes to mosquitos, I subscribe to a scorched earth policy.

The Go Programming Language

Go is an open source programming language that makes it easy to build simple, reliable, and efficient software.

Caddy - The HTTP/2 Web Server with Fully Managed TLS

Caddy is an alternative web server that is easy to configure and use.

I came across Caddy while integrating Let’s Encrypt into a reverse proxy application. Caddy looks like a promising application that does both.

Finding great talent is the most challenging part of my job. The list of skills I'm looking for is not long, but the people I want aren't interested in agencies. Agencies are grueling and the context switching our digital teams face disrupt the product team's ability to grock a problem. Everyone on my team is seeking the "aha" rush and can get really worn down when things get in the way.

Facebook is no longer a startup and we may have far more to learn from them now.
